Q1.  What is the most important nutrient for a horse?

A. With out a doubt, water should be viewed as most important. Horses will perish from lack of water before the lack of any other nutrient. A horse will consume 2-3 times more water by weight than feed each day, with a typical horse drinking 10-12 gallons on a cool day and more on warmer days. Water requirements increase with sweating from activity or exercise. If an automatic waterer is not available, fresh water must be made available daily.

Q4.  How do I know how much to feed my horse?

A. Amount of feed depends on genetics and desired condition and performance level of your horse. Recommended is 2-2.5% feed per body weight. For example, a 1000 lb horse requires 20 lbs of feed per day

Q5.  How do older horses that have a loss in digestive efficiency perform on Pride Plus?

A. Excellent. Pride Plus is highly palatable and easily digested because of the nutrient balance and how the feed is manufactured.

Q6.  What is a complete horse feed and how is Pride Plus different?

A. Complete feeds are often referred to as feeds formulated to provide all necessary nutrients (protein, fats and carbohydrates that provide energy, vitamins and minerals). Pride Plus is different from other ‘complete' feeds because the minerals are in an organic form that is easily absorbed by the horse (95% absorption). Most feeds provide inorganic minerals that the horse can only utilize 40-50%.

Q7.  What are the benefits of fat in a horse's diet?

A. Energy source that contains 2-1/4 times more energy than grain (protein source).
